Approach to Therapy
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), with a Masters in Counselling Psychology. I have been working in private practice for four years, both in-person and virtually. Prior to working in private practice, I worked within schools, community health centres, and child protection agencies.
I work in a virtual therapeutic setting. I try to make your virtual sessions as similar to sessions you would experience in person as possible. You get to see my office space, we engage in therapeutic exercises, and I share handouts, information sheets, and resources as needed – all from the comfort of your own home, in your slippers, and avoiding any time commuting.
I have extensive experience working with with anxiety, depression, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, trauma, family conflict, challenges with self-esteem, stress, loneliness, difficulties with emotional regulation and executive functioning, and parenting.
One of the most common questions I get asked is what my preferred therapeutic approach is. Simply, my preferred approach is the one that works best for you. I don’t work with any singular approach and instead, draw from many approaches based on what you need and what comes up in our sessions together. In other words, I use the approach or technique that I feel could be most helpful to you, in that moment in time.
If there is one thing I’d like for you to know about me, it is that I love what I do. I love making connections with people, helping them grow, being a partner through difficult times, and creating a safe, supportive, reliable space for others. I feel that my passion for this work is very apparent in my connections with each and every client, and the work I put into helping your therapeutic experience to be meaningful.
